THERMAL EXPANSION CHAMBER

OVERVIEW: When liquid fluid chemical in a closed system experiences an increase in temperature, the thermal expansion of the fluid manifests itself as an increase in pressure.

The Hydropad thermal expansion chamber (also called a thermal volume compensator, or expansion pot) protects against ruptured piping and fittings from this expansion by absorbing the expanded quantity of fluid and limiting the pressure increases. The internal edge welded stainless steel metal bellows that separates the expanding fluid from the compressing nitrogen gas is the key.

Use of other devices such as burst disks or pressure relief valves may cause other problems. The Hydropad has all stainless steel wetted parts to ensure maintenance-free service and to allow for temperatures and liquids not practical with other units. The Hydropad provides the best chemical control performance possible.
